Contract: B2B  Rate: 140-150 PLN/h net+VAT  Location: Remote within Poland Project: Building AI-powered products for the financial services sector Start: ASAP Key Technologies: • AI & LLMs: LLMs, RAG, Prompt Engineering, Agentic AI, model evaluation, LLMOps • Machine Learning: AI/ML systems in production, applied ML, responsible AI practices • Backend: Node.js, Python • Frontend: React • Cloud: AWS, serverless architecture, AWS Lambda, event-driven systems • Engineering: Architecture, technical leadership, code reviews, design documents, production-grade software • Domain: FinTech, regulated financial services, compliance, auditability Project Overview Join our team as a Staff Engineer and support a FinTech company building advanced AI-powered products for the financial services sector. This is a senior technical leadership role with a strong focus on AI, LLM-powered product development, RAG pipelines, agentic features, and scalable cloud-native systems. You will act as the most senior technical voice within one of the product squads, working closely with the Engineering Manager as a technical co-leader. You will be responsible for shaping the squad’s technical direction, making key architectural decisions, mentoring engineers, and ensuring that AI-powered features are robust, scalable, compliant, and production-ready. The role combines deep AI/ML expertise with strong full-stack engineering skills across Node.js, Python, React, and AWS. You will work in a regulated financial services environment, where auditability, compliance, responsible AI, and engineering quality are critical. Responsibilities • Set the technical direction for the squad, owning architectural decisions, technical risk, and engineering quality. • Act as a technical co-leader alongside the Engineering Manager. • Lead the development of AI-powered product features based on LLMs, RAG pipelines, and agentic workflows. • Design and deliver scalable AI systems running in production on a cloud-native AWS environment. • Drive the adoption of AI coding tools across the full software development lifecycle — from planning and design to code review, testing, and deployment. • Deliver production-grade code across the full stack, including Node.js or Python backends and React frontend components where needed. • Build and maintain serverless, event-driven systems using AWS services such as Lambda. • Mentor and support engineers across AI, backend, frontend, and cloud-native engineering domains. • Review code, contribute to technical design documents, and promote strong engineering practices across the squad. • Collaborate with platform teams to reuse shared capabilities and contribute reusable technical patterns. • Represent the engineering perspective in architecture discussions and technical review forums. • Ensure all solutions are compliant-by-design, auditable, secure, and suitable for regulated financial services environments. • Evaluate emerging AI tools, frameworks, and engineering practices, recommending adoption where they create real value. Requirements  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, including significant experience building and operating production systems. • Proven experience building and deploying AI/ML systems in production. • Strong hands-on experience with LLMs, RAG, Prompt Engineering, model evaluation, Agentic AI, and LLMOps. • Strong technical leadership experience: setting technical direction, making architectural decisions, mentoring engineers, and influencing engineering practices. • Deep expertise in Node.js or Python, with solid experience in the other. • Strong full-stack engineering background, including experience with React. • Experience building cloud-native systems on AWS. • Practical knowledge of serverless and event-driven architecture, including AWS Lambda. • Strong understanding of production-grade engineering standards, including scalability, maintainability, observability, and reliability. • Ability to make pragmatic technical decisions and balance speed, quality, risk, and long-term maintainability. • Experience working in environments where compliance, auditability, security, and responsible software delivery are important. • Strong communication skills and the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders. • Fluency in Polish and advanced English communication skills, with the ability to take a stand and be held accountable for technical decisions. Nice to have • Experience in FinTech, financial services, or another regulated industry. • Experience with FCA-regulated environments or similar compliance-heavy domains. • Experience contributing to architecture review boards or technical governance forums. • Experience building AI platforms, shared AI capabilities, or reusable AI engineering patterns. • Experience introducing AI coding tools and AI-assisted development practices across engineering teams. • Background in responsible AI, AI governance, auditability, or model risk management.
