Linux Platform Owner

Division: Group Technology Solutions (GTS)  Overview At Euroclear, the owner of the enterprise Linux estate, responsible for its strategy, reliability, security, and evolution. This role provides end-to-end leadership for Linux platform engineering across on-premises and hybrid cloud environments, including containerized platforms. The Head of Linux Platform sets the long-term vision, ensures operational excellence, and represents Linux capabilities at senior leadership level. As both a people leader and platform authority, this role drives strategic decision-making, and ensures the Linux platform remains secure, scalable, and aligned with enterprise priorities.   Key Responsibilities Enterprise Platform Ownership • Own the overall strategy, roadmap, and lifecycle management of the enterprise Linux platform. • Act as the accountable leader for platform stability, resilience, security posture, and operational performance. • Drive long-term technology direction, including automation, containerization, and infrastructure modernization. • Represent the Linux platform in senior stakeholder forums, including executive and board-level discussions. Leadership & People Management • Ensure the right mix of competencies is present within the team to meet current and future objectives. • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with all squad members to foster strong working relationships. • Hold appraisal sessions and discuss individual career development opportunities with team members. • Manage all administrative aspects of people management, including approval of holidays, overtime, and related matters. Operational Accountability • Ensure reliable day-to-day operations of critical Linux infrastructure supporting enterprise systems. • Provide leadership during major incidents and high-severity escalations as they may arise.. • Establish and enforce operational standards, risk controls, and service-reliability practices. • Maintain strong governance over platform availability, security compliance, and lifecycle management. Stakeholder & Executive Engagement • Serve as the primary senior interface between platform engineering, security, architecture, and business leadership. • Communicate platform strategy, risks, and investment priorities to executive stakeholders. • Balance operational stability with innovation and evolving enterprise needs. • Influence infrastructure standards and enterprise technology direction. Product & Delivery Leadership • Define platform priorities and guide backlog strategy to balance reliability, technical debt, automation, and innovation. • Partner closely with Product Owners, architects, and engineering leads to ensure delivery alignment. • Champion agile ways of working while maintaining strong operational governance. Technical & Domain Leadership • Provide credible technical leadership across Linux platforms, automation, and container ecosystems. • Guide architectural decisions related to hybrid infrastructure, virtualization, and platform security. • Maintain oversight of evolving technologies and industry trends relevant to enterprise Linux environments.   Qualifications & Experience Essential Experience • Proven leadership experience owning large-scale Linux infrastructure in complex enterprise environments. • Demonstrated accountability for platform reliability, operational risk, and strategic direction. • Experience leading sizable engineering teams, including people management responsibilities. • Strong stakeholder management experience at senior leadership level. • Strategic thinker with strong decision-making authority. • Comfortable operating under high accountability and operational pressure. • Excellent communication and influence skills across technical and executive audiences.   Technical Credibility • Deep understanding of enterprise Linux systems and operational environments. • Experience with infrastructure automation, configuration management, and platform lifecycle practices. • Familiarity with container platforms, virtualization technologies, and hybrid cloud environments. • Understanding of enterprise security, risk management, and compliance frameworks.     Please note that this is a permanent position, and we do not offer freelance/contract arrangement for the role. #LI-AK1 About Us Why join us Embark on your new adventure at Euroclear, and work at the heart of the global capital markets.
