Team description:
We Lead the end-to-end development, deployment, and continuous enhancement of Toyota’s connected services ecosystem across European markets. Our work includes the integration of vehicle connectivity platforms, mobile applications, and cloud-based services, ensuring scalability, security, and a seamless user experience. We Collaborate with engineering, product, IT, legal, and external partners to accelerate service rollout and maintain operational excellence.
Role Summary:
We are seeking a Solution Architect to design and deliver innovative end‑to‑end solutions across the Energy Business ecosystem. In this role, you will shape the architecture of next‑generation EV charging platforms, energy management systems, connected services, and interoperability frameworks that enable scalable, efficient, and customer‑centric e‑mobility operations. As a key technology and business advisor, you will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including engineering, product, IT, operations, and external partners, to translate business requirements into robust, future‑ready architectures that support the rapid growth of electric vehicles and charging infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the architecture and design of EV charging platforms, roaming services, charge point management systems (CPMS), and backend solutions.
• Define and maintain solution blueprints, integration patterns, and technical standards for e‑mobility products and services.
• Develop and govern cloud‑based architectures (AWS) supporting scalability, security, and performance.
• Drive technology strategy for smart charging, VXG and/or V2X, dynamic pricing, and distributed energy resource (DER) integration.
• Support product teams in designing new features for EV drivers, fleet operators, and charging network operators.
• Lead architecture reviews, provide technical leadership, and mentor engineering and delivery teams.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and vendors in the EV ecosystem, providing recommendations on platforms, tools, and frameworks.
• Ensure alignment with cybersecurity requirements, regulatory standards, and enterprise governance processes.
Qualifications & Skills:
What we require:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Energy Systems, or related field.
• More than 6 years of experience in Solution Architecture, ideally in the connected services domain
• Understanding of EV charging technologies, protocols, and ecosystems (OCPP, OCPI, ISO 15118, PKI, roaming).
• Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred), microservices, APIs, and enterprise integration.
• Knowledge of IoT architectures, telematics, device management, and real‑time data flows.
• Familiarity with grid interaction models, and flexible energy management concepts.
• Proven ability to lead solution design sessions, communicate with stakeholders, and manage technical roadmaps.
• Analytical & problem-solving: Skilled at diagnosing issues, conducting root cause analysis, and defining viable technical solutions.
• Decision-making & leadership: Confident in setting technical priorities, resolving dependencies, and guiding the team.
• Experienced in sprint planning, cross-functional coordination, and backlog refinement.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS (considered an advantage):
• Experience with Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, MongoDB, SQL and other backend technology
• Experience in development of Connected Service for automotive industry
• Experience with smart charging algorithms, load balancing, and V2G.
• Background in energy markets, demand response, or grid operations.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity standards for connected devices and energy infrastructure.
You have a TOYOTA DNA, this means:
Courage: you are ready to let go of the easy path to reach challenging targets
Creativity: your passion drives you to explore innovative ideas and challenge the impossible
Coaching: you share knowledge and feedback with your colleagues and celebrate each other's success
Curiosity: you are open for new experience and able to combine imagination with fact-based observation
Collaboration: you are a team player, respectful and inclusive in your style and you take a customer-oriented approach
Formal Role Details:
• Job Type: employment contract
• Starting date: Position available from September 2026
