Backend Tech Lead / Software Architect (Backend & APIs)

Why this role? We’re looking for a hands-on, technically strong Architect who enjoys designing real systems, working closely with engineering teams, and shaping solutions end-to-end - from discovery to delivery. This is not a corporate governance role. It’s a practical, problem-solving position for someone who wants real architectural ownership, technical influence, and direct impact on projects. What you’ll be doing • Designing and evolving backend and API architectures (Cloud & On-Premise) • Creating scalable, maintainable systems with clear trade-offs • Designing public and internal APIs (REST, GraphQL, async/event-based)• versioning, contracts, backward compatibility • Participating in technical & business discovery with clients (together with Sales) • Supporting delivery teams in solving complex backend challenges • Setting and improving engineering standards, tooling and best practices • Writing architecture & technical documentation (design docs, proposals) • Collaborating directly with clients and stakeholders • Actively experimenting with and applying AI-powered tools (LLMs, copilots, internal agents) to improve developer productivity and system capabilities Our typical tech stack (varies by project) Backend & APIs • Java / Kotlin • Node.js / TypeScript • REST, GraphQL, event-driven architectures Cloud & Infrastructure • AWS / Azure / GCP • Docker, Kubernetes • Serverless & container-based solutions Data • SQL & NoSQL databases • Event streaming DevOps & Quality • CI/CD pipelines • Infrastructure as Code • Monitoring & observability We don’t expect you to know everything - but we do expect strong architectural thinking and hands-on experience with modern backend systems. Must have • 7+ years of professional experience in software engineering • Proven ability to lead architectural discussions and make pragmatic technical decisions • Hands-on experience designing and implementing backend systems and APIs • Strong experience working directly with clients • Ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders • Ownership mindset - from prototyping to strategic architectural direction • Comfort working with modern AI concepts (LLMs, embeddings, RAG, streaming responses) • Excellent English (min.
