Key Responsibilities

Duties will include but are not limited to:
·       Assist with the maintenance and ongoing development of our WordPress websites.
·       Regularly update WordPress core, themes, and plugins to ensure websites remain secure and up to date.
·       Help optimise website performance and page load speeds.
·       Support the development of new website features and enhancements under the guidance of senior developers.
·       Assist with maintaining and improving custom WordPress themes and plugins.
·       Help with website migrations, deployments, and testing activities.
·       Assist with pre-release and post-release QA checks, including redirects, canonicals, noindex tags, robots.txt, sitemap changes,
tracking scripts, broken links, and basic crawlability checks.
·       Work with staging environments and follow deployment checklists before changes go live.
·       Support the setup and launch of new content websites based on existing themes, templates, and internal standards.
·       Monitor basic website issues such as downtime, broken pages, visual bugs, slow pages, and plugin conflicts, and escalate critical issues quickly.
·       Maintain clear documentation of website changes, plugin updates, deployments, and technical fixes.
·       Support the maintenance and querying of SQL databases.
·       Troubleshoot bugs and technical issues, implementing fixes where appropriate.
·       Write clean, well-documented, and maintainable code following team standards.
·       Create and maintain technical documentation for development work.
·       Work closely with developers, designers, SEO specialists, and marketing teams to deliver projects.
·       Participate in code reviews and use feedback to continually improve your skills.
·       Communicate effectively with colleagues and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
·       Deliver high-quality work while meeting agreed deadlines.
·       Continuously develop your technical skills by learning new tools, technologies, and best practices.

 

Requirements
·       A basic understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.
·       Awareness of Cloudflare, DNS and website hosting.
·       Familiarity with WordPress and an interest in web development.
·       Basic knowledge of SQL or other relational databases.
·       Understanding of version control systems such as Git.
·       Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
·       Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
·       A willingness to learn, take feedback, and develop new technical skills.
·       Ability to manage workload effectively and meet agreed deadlines. A collaborative mindset
·       Good proficiency in spoken and written English is required, as English is the shared working language across our international
teams.

 

Desirable
·       Experience building or maintaining WordPress websites through personal, academic, or commercial projects.
·       Basic SEO awareness
·       A basic understanding of Linux command line.
·       A basic understanding of caching
·       Familiarity with custom WordPress themes or plugins.
·       Basic understanding of REST APIs.
·       Exposure to website performance optimisation or caching techniques.
·       Experience using local development environments (e.g. LocalWP, XAMPP, Docker).
·       Basic knowledge of Linux hosting environments or web servers.
·       An interest in SEO, affiliate marketing, or digital marketing technologies.
·       A portfolio, GitHub profile, or examples of personal development projects.
