Mid-Level Java/Kafka Fullstack Developer in Payments Engineering

As a Mid-Level Java/Kafka Fullstack Developer in Payments Engineering, you will be working for our client, a leader in financial services, dedicated to transforming payments technology and standards. You will contribute to critical projects that adapt legacy systems to implement the latest ISO20022 messaging standards, enabling seamless and efficient global transactions. Your main responsibilities: • Collaborate in requirements gathering sessions with business users to ensure technical solutions meet strategic objectives. • Analyze, design, and plan solutions focused on adapting legacy applications for ISO20022 standards. • Develop, test, and deploy high-quality code, participating actively in code reviews and facilitating UAT and release processes. • Reverse engineer complex codebases to identify points for impactful improvements and optimize system performance. • Contribute to the evolution of the tech stack, advocating best practices and innovative solutions. • Ensure seamless integration of Kafka, Spring Boot, MongoDB, and other technologies within microservices architecture. • Maintain high standards for code quality, security, and performance in a distributed environment. • Collaborate effectively in a global team, sharing knowledge and technical insights. You're ideal for this role if you have: • 4+ years of professional experience in software development, with a focus on backend and full-stack solutions. • Strong proficiency in Java, Spring frameworks, Hibernate, and DB2. • Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka—including producers, consumers, Kafka Streams, and Connect. • Knowledge of MongoDB and experience with RESTful API development. • Familiarity with event-driven/microservices architectures and Docker containerization. • Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines (preferably GitLab CI), and multi-module project management with Maven. • Understanding of financial messaging standards such as ISO20022, SWIFT, CBPR+, or FIN is a strong plus. • Optional skills: IBM MQ/JMS, Python scripting, Infrastructure as Code, and experience in payments or banking technology.
