The core goal is to integrate these capabilities into an existing Drupal-based platform, enabling intelligent search, retrieval-augmented generation, and AI-driven workflows powered by structured and unstructured data. The role is heavily centered on Vertex AI architecture, integrations, and data pipelines, with Drupal acting primarily as a consumer of AI-driven data and services.   The project also includes building and orchestrating AI agents, implementing observability for AI systems, and developing robust backend services in Python. The overall setup is production-oriented, long-term, and focused on scalability, reliability, and architectural quality.   Expected competences and knowledge • Strong Python & AI experience (top priority): We are looking for someone with very solid Python skills and proven project-based experience in one or more of the following areas: RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), Agentic AI, or Search AI. • Google Vertex AI: Senior-level experience with Vertex AI, particularly Vertex AI Search and Vertex RAG, is highly preferred — or equivalent hands-on experience with other LLM/AI platforms. • PHP (commercial experience): Commercial knowledge of PHP is required; it does not need to be current — experience from several years ago is acceptable. • Kubernetes: Working-level familiarity sufficient to navigate and support a Kubernetes-based infrastructure (not an expert/DevOps role, but the ability to operate confidently within the environment). • Proven track record in designing and maintaining data pipelines and API-based integrations • Hands-on experience with AI agent architectures, including ADK (Google), A2A protocol, and multi-agent orchestration patterns • Experience with observability and monitoring for AI systems, including tools such as LangFuse • Solid experience with Drupal, including architecture understanding, custom module development, and ongoing maintenance • Ability to work independently on complex architectures and make high-impact technical decisions • Strong understanding of production-grade system design and AI integration best practices Responsibilities • Design, implement, and evolve solutions based on Vertex AI Search and Vertex RAG • Build and maintain API integrations between Vertex AI services and Drupal • Develop and operate data pipelines feeding search and RAG systems • Create and maintain Python-based backend services and internal tooling • Maintain and extend existing Drupal architecture, focusing on integrations and stability • Implement and orchestrate AI agents, including multi-agent collaboration patterns • Ensure observability, monitoring, and reliability of GenAI components using tools like LangFuse • Contribute to architectural decisions and guide best practices for AI-driven systems Technologies you'll work with • Drupal • PHP • Python • HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript • REST APIs • Kubernetes • Git • CI/CD tools and modern development workflows   Client – why choose this particular client from the Jit portfolio?
