Staff Software Engineer

About you You’re a Staff Engineer who thrives on high-ambiguity, high-impact problems. You combine deep technical judgment with the ability to lead through influence. You raise the bar for engineering quality, help teams align on architectural direction, and unblock delivery across domains. You’re comfortable being accountable for critical parts of the system, and you care about long-term maintainability, reliability, cost efficiency, and security. Qualification • 8–11+ years of software engineering experience (or equivalent track record of impact) • Strong track record delivering 6+ month initiatives with broad product and technical impact • Expertise in distributed systems design and development • Proven ability to mentor and coach senior engineers and shape engineering standards by example • Excellent communication skills for driving alignment across engineering, product, and other stakeholders Requirements • Deep understanding of system design, scalability, and reliability trade-offs • Strong hands-on experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure) • Strong knowledge of Kubernetes and modern container platforms • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar) • Solid understanding of CI/CD systems (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins) • Strong fundamentals in Linux/Unix systems and networking • Experience with observability (metrics, logs, traces) and tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, Sentry) • Strong understanding of security and cloud architecture principles Responsibilities • Own and drive company-wide, high-leverage initiatives that improve developer experience and enable new business opportunities • Lead high-ambiguity, mission-critical projects and define execution paths that balance speed, quality, and long-term sustainability • Provide technical leadership through architecture reviews, RFCs, and design documents, driving alignment across teams • Be a technical subject matter expert in one or more key domains and set a strong engineering quality bar • Coach and mentor senior engineers, helping grow technical leadership across the organization • Partner with engineering and product leaders to identify and remove systemic delivery blockers Tech Stack Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Kubernetes, Terraform, GitHub Actions, Grafana Cloud, Prometheus, Sentry, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, Docker What we offer • High trust & transparency, low control environment • Competitive market pay and benefits (depending on the location) • Meaningful work every single day that challenges the industry and is just fun • Hack culture and regular hackathons, retreats & offsites (travel involved) • Partnering with best in class engineering, product and commercial folks that you can learn from • Modern equipment, tools and premium AI licences • Freedom of how you organise your work, overlap with work hours (9-17 CET) is required for effective real-time collaboration • Two offices - Stockholm and Wroclaw with snacks and good coffee
