About the Role As a Customer Solutions Engineer, you will work directly with enterprise customers in the DACH region, leading hands-on proof-of-value engagements and technical workshops.This role combines strong backend and data engineering skills with outstanding communication and customer-facing abilities. You will translate complex data and AI challenges into clear, practical solutions and measurable business outcomes. Fluent German is required. You will own technical delivery during impactful, 3–5 day customer pilots. Working closely with clients, you will analyze their data landscape, design and deliver practical data/AI solutions, and showcase Shelf’s value in real-world environments. You will partner with Account Executives throughout the sales process and act as the main technical point of contact during evaluations and pilots. What You’ll Do • Lead customer-facing proof-of-value (POV) engagements and technical workshops • Communicate data/AI concepts clearly to both technical and business stakeholders • Design and implement backend, data, and AI solutions tailored to customer needs • Collaborate with Account Executives during sales cycles, owning technical evaluations • Work with Engineering to solve technical challenges and build reusable solutions • Support expansion opportunities with existing customers What We’re Looking For • 5+ years experience in backend/data/solutions engineering or similar roles • Strong backend and data engineering skills (data modeling, pipelines, integrations) • Previous hands-on experience working directly with customers in a technical role • Excellent communication and presentation skills • Fluent German (B2+) and strong English • Ability to work independently and deliver impactful results quickly • Experience with AI, GenAI, or data quality solutions is a strong plus Success in this Role Looks Like • Delivering successful customer pilots that clearly demonstrate value • Strong conversion rate from pilots to closed deals • Clear, confident communication with customers throughout the sales process • High-quality technical solutions that meet customer needs
