Role Purpose: The Local Data Design Manager supports the business by leading and developing a team of Designers, Senior Designers, and Lead Designers in their local country, and any contractor designers as deemed appropriate, to deliver high-quality data warehouse designs and associated documentation. The role is accountable for the quality and timeliness of their team’s output and for the management of the individuals in the team, including supporting recruitment, in-role development, and career planning. Subject to their available capacity, they are also expected to complete data warehouse designs. Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities: • Line management and career development of a team of cross-workstream local Data Designers • Supporting and guiding the team in creating data warehouse designs that meet or exceed requirements, ensuring they collaborate effectively with stakeholders, subject matter experts, and internal teams • Ensuring that the Data Designers understand and comply with the agreed principles and processes, with supporting documentation delivered accurately and on time • Leading the recruitment of new Data Designers for the team • Actively contributing to improvements in ways of working and documentation templates • When capacity allows, working on data warehouse designs, following the standard Data Design processes What you'll bring Required Skills: • Proven experience of leading a small to medium sized team to achieve or exceed expectations • Fluency in English, both written and spoken • Experience in mentoring/coaching colleagues • An ability to constructively challenge decisions, introducing possible alternate perspectives • Effective communication skills, in a style which elicits trust • Strong attention to detail • Intermediate-level SQL querying • 2 years experience as a data modeller or 5 years experience of working with data in data warehouses Desirable Experience: • Experience of working with data in Databricks • Knowledge of retail business data and processes
