Delivery Engineer (Backend/Data) — German-speaking

About the Role As a Delivery Engineer, you will work directly with enterprise customers, owning both technical delivery and close day-to-day collaboration during customer projects. This role combines strong backend and data engineering expertise with confident customer communication. You will work closely with clients to understand their needs, explain technical decisions, and represent Shelf from both a technical and business perspective. Fluent German is required, as you will engage directly with customers throughout pilots and delivery phases. You will combine hands-on backend and data engineering work with forward-deployed responsibilities, leading short, high-impact pilots and delivering clear, measurable outcomes. What You’ll Do • Deliver backend and data solutions directly within customer projects • Work closely with customers to understand requirements and align on solutions • Communicate technical concepts, progress, and trade-offs clearly to customer stakeholders • Lead technical delivery during short, high-impact customer pilots • Collaborate with Account Executives and Engineering during evaluations and delivery • Represent the technical team confidently in customer-facing discussions What We’re Looking For • 5+ years of experience in backend or data engineering roles • Strong hands-on backend and data engineering skills • Proven experience working directly with customers in a technical role • Strong communication skills and confidence interacting with customers • Fluent German and strong English • Ability to balance technical delivery with customer collaboration Success in this Role Looks Like • Delivering high-quality backend and data solutions during short, high-impact customer projects • Owning technical delivery end-to-end with minimal supervision • Completing 3–5 day pilots that demonstrate measurable value to customers • Contributing to pilot-to-deal conversions through reliable technical delivery
