SimCorp is experiencing a substantial increase in business globally and to support our growth we are looking for a Database Administrator in Europe. In this key role you will support our suite of Database products and liaise with all our development and operations teams across the world to optimize their performance to support our client requirements. WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR The Database Administrator role would be a part of a small, specialized DBA team within the Analytics business at Simcorp, overseeing the support and performance of a varied database technology landscape including Oracle, SQL Server, Postgres, MySQL and Snowflake. In practice this role would entail: • Install, configure, and operate MSSQL database systems, including a familiarity with Always On and failover configurations • Monitor and optimize performance, including query performance analysis and tuning, working in collaboration with development teams providing recommendations to optimize performance • Design and implement backup, recovery, and security strategies • Proficiency in database programming languages (SQL, T-SQL), as well as SQL Server DacPac deployments • Experience with other database technologies (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Snowflake) • Ability to script and automate routine procedures, with appropriate error handling and alerting WHAT WE VALUE Most importantly, you can see yourself contributing and thriving in the position described above. How you gained the skills needed for doing that is less important. We expect you to be good at several of the following and be able to - and interested in - learning the rest. • A degree in computer science/engineering discipline. • 5+ years of experience with Database Administration, including query performance tuning • In-depth knowledge of MSSQL or Oracle Database architecture, administration, troubleshooting, performance/SQL tuning, configure monitoring/alerts, and perform capacity planning. • Knowledge of database performance monitoring and tuning tools • Experience with cloud hosted PaaS database solutions, particularly on Microsoft Azure • Scripting skills to automate tasks, such as with Python, Bash or PowerShell • Managing large data warehouse DBs, Infrastructure as Code, and willingness to learn new technologies. Good communication, teamworking & organization skills. You have proficient analytical skills and are used to working in a structured way. Team player with problem-solving mindset, proactive attitude, and ability to work in fast-paced environments.
