Data Governance / AML Data Specialist (Quantexa / Transaction Monitoring)

We are seeking an experienced Data Governance professional to support the implementation and operationalisation of data controls within a Transaction Monitoring (TM) and Quantexa environment. The role focuses on translating regulatory and business requirements into effective data governance practices, ensuring high-quality, reliable data to support financial crime detection and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
• Translate regulatory and business requirements into actionable data controls and governance frameworks
• Define, implement, and maintain data quality, lineage, and ownership across critical data assets
• Work closely with Quantexa and Transaction Monitoring systems to optimise:• Critical Data Elements (CDEs)
• Scoring and model inputs
• End-to-end data pipelines
• Ensure strong data governance practices are embedded operationally, not just documented at policy level
• Establish and monitor data quality controls, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and completeness
• Drive data issue resolution processes, including triage, root cause analysis, and remediation
• Implement reconciliation checks, validation rules, and data acceptance/rejection criteria
• Manage data across complex ecosystems, including multiple internal and external data sources
• Define and enforce data ownership, stewardship roles, and governance structures
Essential Skills & Experience
1. Data Governance & Data Management
• Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks (ownership, stewardship, lineage, controls)
• Experience defining and managing Critical Data Elements (CDEs)
• Expertise in data quality management, including rule definition, monitoring, and issue resolution
• Proven experience implementing governance in live systems (not limited to policy design)
2. Data Quality & Data Stewardship
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing data quality controls
• Strong understanding of ETL processes and data pipeline validation
• Experience managing data issue triage and remediation workflows
• Ability to define reconciliation checks and data validation logic
3. AML / Transaction Monitoring Knowledge
• Good understanding of Transaction Monitoring processes and alert lifecycle
• Familiarity with AML data domains (KYC, transactional data, sanctions screening)
• Awareness of key regulatory expectations within Financial Crime / AML
4. Complex Data Environment Experience
• Experience working with multiple upstream (internal and external) data sources
• Understanding of end-to-end data flows (ingestion, transformation, consumption)
• Awareness of data ownership challenges and third-party data constraints
• Knowledge of SLAs, DDAs, and governance limitations in external data contexts
5. Stakeholder Management
• Strong ability to work cross-functionally with Compliance, Technology, Architecture, and Business teams
• Experience driving agreement on data ownership and governance responsibilities (RACI)
• Confident influencing stakeholders and embedding governance practices
Preferred Experience
• Experience working with Quantexa or similar financial crime analytics platforms
• Background in banking, financial services, or regulated environments
• Exposure to large-scale data transformation or regulatory programmes
