Senior Backend Engineer/Data Management Consultant
Profile:
We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with extensive experience in data-related projects, combining strong technical skills with analytical thinking, independence, and the ability to work effectively with multiple teams.
This is not purely a software development role. The successful candidate will also act as a technical consultant, analyst, and, to some extent, architect, taking responsibility for technical decisions and overseeing the entire data domain.
Key Responsibilities:
• Contribute to architectural design and provide guidance on data-related solutions.
• Take ownership of the entire domain, evaluating proposed solutions and technical decisions.
• Oversee data-related requests and requirements, ensuring data consistency and quality.
• Collaborate with multiple teams, stakeholders, and external service providers.
• Coordinate and review database changes, assessing their correctness and business relevance.
• Coordinate activities and manage requirements at the intersection of technology, data, and business.
Technical Requirements:
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript and/or TypeScript.
• Experience working with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL. Experience with other relational databases is also acceptable.
• Practical knowledge of data modelling, entity relationships, and database schema design.
• Ability to assess database changes and verify their alignment with the existing architecture and business requirements.
Nice to Have
• Experience with Master Data Management (MDM).
• Experience in working with Docker.
• Familiarity with tools such as Snowflake, dbt, or similar technologies.
• Experience in data analytics.
Soft Skills and Organizational Competencies
• Excellent communication skills and experience working with stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of an entire technical domain.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate solutions and make decisions.
• Experience coordinating activities across multiple teams and aligning requirements.
• A consultancy approach and the ability to bridge the gap between technical and business perspectives.
