Senior Data Engineer

ABRIAL is California-based startup, with a meaningful European footprint. We are building the commercial operating system for airlines, starting with the core of the engine: price optimization (yield management).Team: 10 people, all top-notch, with a sharp mix of business, domain expertise, and AI research & engineering. Deep market access, incredibly differentiated and high-performance product, proven to deliver meaningful financial impact.
Traction: Live with a large publicly traded airline, just signed a second one, a few more in contracting, and a deep pipeline beyond that.
Funding: runway secured through 2029. Raised from top silicon valley VCs, with strong line of sight into a series A raise in the coming months in case desired.
Main Responsibilities:
• Analyze raw airline data & designing transformations
• Select technologies & designing architecture of the whole data platform
• Set up data ingest & transformation pipelines
• Implement integrations with airline services
• Implement & manage cloud infrastructure in GCP using Infrastructure as Code
• Ensure reliability of the data flow
• Ensure security of the data storage and processing

Requirements:
• 4+ years of data engineering experience
• Proficiency in Python & BiqQuery/SQL
• Experience with GCP & Cloud Composer (Airflow)
• Experience with IaC (e.g., Terraform)
• Genuine interest in working in a startup environment: deep sense of ownership, focus on outcome, agile & independent mindset
• Fluent English (written & spoken)
• Occasional availability for evening meetings (no more than 1x / week, up to 7-8pm CET)

Nice to have:
• Airline domain knowledge/interest
• Direct communication skills - no tolerance for B.S.
• Startup experience

Compensation & Setup:
• $6-8k per month (some flexibility depending on profile), invoiced as a B2B Contractor
• Robust path to higher compensation in the medium term
• Employee options grant well above market
