Senior Data Engineer

Start Date: ASAP / Within 1 Month / FlexibleContract Type: B2B (160–170 PLN/h + VAT) Work Model: Hybrid – Wroclaw or Poznan (40% onsite) About the Role We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to lead the migration of legacy, on‑premise ETL systems into a modern Microsoft Azure–based data environment. This role is ideal for a senior engineer who combines technical depth with strong analytical skills and the ability to collaborate closely with business and technology teams. You will be responsible for assessing migration tasks, modernizing data pipelines, and driving innovation in the cloud data engineering ecosystem. Key Responsibilities • Lead the migration of traditional ETL workflows from on‑premise systems to Azure‑based data platforms. • Analyze existing solutions, plan migration activities, and ensure performance and continuity across the transition. • Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to define requirements and deliver scalable solutions. • Modernize and optimize data pipelines using current data engineering tools, frameworks, and cloud capabilities. Must‑Have Qualifications • Approximately 7 - 8 years of experience in data engineering. • Strong background in traditional data warehouse and ETL systems (Informatica experience is a strong plus, but not required). • Hands-on expertise with modern data engineering technologies: PySpark & Python • Databricks • Cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure • Ability to work in a hybrid setup (40% on-site in Wroclaw or Poznan). • Strong analytical skills, problem‑solving capabilities, and a proactive mindset. Nice-to-Have Skills • Experience in large-scale or enterprise-grade data migration projects. • Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and tools used in data engineering workflows. • Understanding of data governance, data quality, and security practices in cloud environments.
