Senior Data Engineer

✨ About the role We’re looking for a senior-level Data Engineer to join a high-impact media project at a very early stage. This is a unique opportunity to build an entire data ecosystem from the ground up in a fast-moving, low-structure environment where your technical decisions will directly shape the future of the platform. The project focuses on integrating and reconciling data from multiple fragmented sources into a reliable, scalable, and business-ready foundation. We’re searching for a true “one-person army”, someone who can independently define architecture, establish best practices, build pipelines, communicate directly with stakeholders, and take full ownership of the data domain from day one. The stack has not been finalized yet, which means you’ll have significant influence over tooling and technical direction. Strong autonomy, leadership, and communication skills are essential, as you’ll work closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. 🏠 Work setup Our headquarters are based in Paris, while the engineering team works fully remotely. ⚡ What we value • Excellence in execution • Delivering high-quality technical and business solutions • Ownership, trust, honesty, and collaboration • Curiosity and continuous learning • Pragmatic decision-making with long-term thinking ✏️ Your responsibilities • Design and build a modern data platform from scratch in a fragmented and low-maturity environment • Integrate multiple data sources (CRM Batch, Piano, WordPress, analytics platforms, and others) into a unified source of truth • Define the architecture, tooling, and processes for the entire data stack • Build scalable, production-grade ETL/ELT pipelines and orchestration workflows • Develop a robust data warehouse architecture aligned with business goals and operational use cases • Implement Master Data Management strategies and identity resolution across inconsistent systems • Own data quality processes, including monitoring, validation, and continuous improvements • Translate ambiguous business requirements into scalable data models and datasets • Deliver reliable datasets supporting churn prediction, CRM activation, segmentation, and engagement analysis • Collaborate directly with clients and stakeholders to understand business needs and communicate technical trade-offs • Balance speed, scalability, and maintainability when making architecture decisions • Ensure data is accessible and actionable for product, business, and data science teams 🎯 You’re the right candidate if you have • 4+ years of hands-on experience in Data Engineering within modern data environments • Strong expertise in SQL and large-scale data transformation • Proven experience building robust production-grade ETL/ELT pipelines • Experience designing and managing data warehouse architectures (BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift, or similar) • Deep understanding of data modeling and distributed data systems • Practical experience with data quality frameworks, MDM, and identity resolution • Strong business understanding around churn, CRM, engagement, and customer segmentation • Ability to work independently in highly ambiguous, fast-changing environments • Strong ownership mindset and ability to drive initiatives without close supervision • Excellent communication skills and confidence in direct client interactions • English proficiency at B2 level or higher 🧩 Nice to have • Experience in media, subscription-based, or marketing-driven businesses • Previous experience building a data platform from scratch • Hands-on experience with Airbyte, dbt, and orchestration tools • Experience integrating CRM and analytics platforms such as Batch or Piano • Exposure to ML/data science workflows, feature engineering, or churn modeling pipelines 💻 Example technologies used across projects Backend: Xano, NestJS, Node.js, TypeScript, TRPC Frontend: Next.js, React-based frontends, CMS platforms 🤝 Hiring process • 1h HR and technical screening interview in English • 1.5h technical interview • 30 min interview with the CTO
