We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer with deep expertise in Debezium and Change Data Capture to join a data platform team in an advisory and architecture role. This role is suited for an engineer who can review a live production setup, identify configuration issues at the root, and guide a team toward a stable and well-optimized CDC pipeline.
About the Project:
A well-established European technology company runs a real-time data replication pipeline using Debezium to stream changes from an Oracle source database to PostgreSQL, within a multi-tenant production environment. The configuration is in place but has been running unstably due to the complexity of the settings involved. The team needs a senior technical voice who can assess the current architecture, advise on the correct configuration approach, and act as an ongoing sounding board. The engagement is remote, conducted via Microsoft Teams.
Responsibilities:
• Reviewing the current Debezium setup and identifying root causes of instability;
• Advising on configuration best practices for the Oracle connector in a multi-tenant environment;
• Proposing architecture-level improvements to the CDC pipeline;
• Guiding the team through configuration changes and performance tuning;
• Acting as a technical sounding board for the internal data engineering team.
Qualifications:
• Proven hands-on experience with Debezium, specifically the Oracle connector;
• Strong understanding of CDC concepts and log-based replication (LogMiner, supplemental logging);
• Experience designing or troubleshooting CDC pipelines in multi-tenant architectures;
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL as a replication target;
• Ability to communicate clearly at both architecture and configuration level;
• English proficiency sufficient for remote advisory sessions.
