Senior PostgreSQL Database Engineer

The role covers end‑to‑end responsibility for PostgreSQL environments, including cloud migrations, day‑to‑day operations, performance tuning, capacity planning, and troubleshooting, with a strong focus on stability and scalability. You will work with managed and VM‑based PostgreSQL solutions on GCP, support database changes and incidents in line with ITSM processes, and collaborate closely with Cloud Engineering, Security, and Application teams to ensure alignment with architectural standards and compliance requirements, while maintaining clear documentation and operational runbooks.     Responsibilities you'll have • Migrate PostgreSQL databases from on‑premises platforms to Google Cloud • Support PostgreSQL running on VM‑based and/or managed cloud services • Perform database upgrades, patching, performance tuning, and optimization • Support onboarding of applications to PostgreSQL platforms • Troubleshoot incidents and support change and release activities • Collaborate with cloud, security, and application stakeholders • Maintain documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge articles Expected competences and knowledge • Strong hands‑on experience as a PostgreSQL DBA / Database Engineer • Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL internals, performance, and configuration • Experience with PostgreSQL on cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud • Hands‑on experience with database migrations (on‑prem → cloud) • Understanding of replication, backup, recovery, and HA concepts • Experience working in enterprise / regulated environments Nice to have • Experience with PostgreSQL managed services and Google Cloud infrastructure • Automation and scripting experience • Familiarity with cloud security and compliance requirements   Technologies you'll work with • PostgreSQL DBA • Google Cloud Platform (GCP) • Google Compute Engine (GCE, VM‑based SQL Server) • High Availability (HA) • On‑premises platforms   Client – why choose this particular client from the Jit portfolio?
