Senior SQL Server Database Engineer

The role covers the full migration lifecycle—planning, execution, validation, and post‑migration stabilization—as well as day‑to‑day operations of SQL Server in a hybrid (on‑prem + cloud) setup, with responsibility for performance tuning, capacity planning, troubleshooting, and ensuring high availability and disaster recovery (e.g. Always On). You will collaborate closely with Cloud Engineering, Security, and Application teams to meet security, compliance, and architectural standards, support database changes and incidents in line with ITSM processes, and maintain up‑to‑date documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures, with mainly remote work and occasional office presence when required.     Responsibilities you'll have • Execute VMware → Google Cloud (GCE / VM‑based) migrations for SQL Server databases • Support migration planning, execution, validation, and post‑migration stabilization • Operate SQL Server databases in hybrid (on‑prem + cloud) environments • Perform performance tuning, capacity planning, and troubleshooting • Support database changes, releases, and incidents in line with ITSM processes • Collaborate with Cloud Engineering, Security, and Application teams • Ensure documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures are updated Expected competences and knowledge • Strong hands‑on experience as a SQL Server DBA / Database Engineer • Solid experience with SQL Server on Windows in enterprise environments • Experience with cloud‑based SQL Server deployments, preferably on Google Cloud (GCE) • Experience with database migrations from on‑prem to cloud • Knowledge of High Availability / Disaster Recovery (e.g. Always On, clustering) • Experience working in regulated environments (banking, finance, or similar) • SQL Server performance tuning and troubleshooting expertise Nice to have • Experience with hybrid cloud setups • Familiarity with infrastructure as code and automation concepts • Exposure to audit, risk, or compliance requirements • Service category   Technologies you'll work with • SQL Server DBA  • Windows Server • Google Cloud Platform (GCP) • Google Compute Engine (GCE, VM‑based SQL Server)   Client – why choose this particular client from the Jit portfolio?
