To learn how we can supercharge progress for you, visit hcltech.com Overview of the Role As an Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) & Nerdio SME (L2), you will play a pivotal role in the planning, deployment, and optimization of cloud-based Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments. This position is instrumental in ensuring seamless and secure workspace delivery for enterprise clients, enabling business agility and operational continuity. You will leverage your deep technical expertise to drive end-to-end VDI transformation projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and deliver high-impact solutions that align with HCLTech’s commitment to technological innovation and customer success. Detailed Responsibilities • Perform daily health checks and comprehensive reviews of Azure Virtual Desktop and Nerdio environments to ensure optimal performance and reliability. • Monitor ServiceNow queues, respond to incidents, problem tickets, and service requests in a timely manner, and provide effective remote support to end-users. • Analyze, coordinate, and fulfill new service requests, acting as a liaison between requesters, vendors, and internal teams. • Oversee onboarding and configuration of new applications on AVD and Nerdio platforms, including application packaging and rewrapping using PSADT toolkit, and managing associated blob storage. • Collaborate with application vendors/owners, Security, Network, and Firewall teams to maintain robust and compliant infrastructure. • Coordinate with UAT and Pre-production testers to validate changes, performance, and functionality prior to production deployment. • Update and maintain Nerdio scripted actions and action groups to optimize application and desktop delivery. • Configure and manage autoscaling criteria for efficient ramp-up or ramp-down of AVD session hosts as required. • Build, document, and present monthly operational and performance reports in collaboration with customers. • Lead or support large-scale VDI deployments, customizations, and troubleshooting efforts, especially during UAT/Pilot phases. • Contribute to Proof of Concept (POC) initiatives, and develop both high-level and low-level design documentation for VDI solutions. Skill Requirements • Extensive experience in IT infrastructure management, focusing on VDI technologies. • Advanced hands-on experience with Azure AVD, Nerdio Manager, VMware Horizon View, and Citrix Cloud. • Proven track record in end-to-end VDI project delivery—from architecture and design to engineering, implementation, migration, and upgrade. • Expertise in server, desktop, and application virtualization, including hybrid and cloud-based VDI solutions. • Proficient in user profile management tools such as FSLogix, Ivanti (AppSense), Citrix UPM/WEM. • Experience designing and deploying BCP and disaster recovery plans for VDI environments. • Strong skills in scripting and automation (PowerShell, VBScript). • Solid understanding of Azure Active Directory, AD DS, Group Policy Management, DNS, DHCP, DFS, and Wyse Device Manager integration. • Relevant certifications required: AZ-140, AZ-300, MCSE, NME-200, VCP, ITIL, CCA, CCNP. Other Requirements (Optional) • Experience with NetScaler (ADC) VPX, SDX, MPX, PVS, Storefront, and advanced application delivery and security. • Knowledge of integrating third-party tools and custom automations within the VDI ecosystem. • Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills. • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, global, and cross-functional teams. • Flexibility to provide on-call support as required by business needs.
