Within the Digital Platform Services department, our teams specialize in areas such as cloud, operating systems, virtualization, databases, backup or storage, as well as networking and security. We also have 1st line support consultants who speak French and English, but also Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and German. The Application Services department is responsible for areas such as software development, data engineering, testing services, CRM, ITSM and ERP platform integrations, as well as application management for customers in Scandinavia, Benelux, France, Germany, Switzerland and the UK. Job Description We are looking for a DevOps Engineer (Unix DevOps with Java expertise) to join Sopra Steria Polska and one of our innovative international squads. You will play a pivotal role in the development and optimization of our development environment. You will manage the Unix/Linux infrastructure, support Java-based applications (Jira/Confluence), and collaborate with Atlassian administrators to resolve system-level issues. This role focuses on server administration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting in a Linux (RHEL)-based ecosystem, ensuring high availability, security, and compliance for enterprise-scale deployments. Note that we can only offer cooperation to people who are located in Poland and have EU citizenship. Tech stack on the project: Linux(RHEL), Java/JVM tuning, Apache HTTPD, Apache Tomcat, PostgreSQL, Bash, Python/Perl, SSL/TLS, HTTP/HTTPS, JDBC, LDAP/SSO, Bamboo, Jenkins, Jira, Confluence What we offer: - BENEFITS (UoP): Luxmed, Medicover Sport, Worksmile, educational platforms, languages learning platform, referral bonus, copyrights, life insurance, workation- DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES (UoP and B2B): certifications (paid by the company), conferences, Tech Lunches, possibility to join our Communities (Project Management, Architecture, Security, Process Management, Leadership, AI and Cloud) Wymagania: - 5+ years of Unix/Linux (RHEL) system administration in enterprise environments.- Strong experience with Java applications, including JVM tuning, Tomcat administration, and troubleshooting- Hands-on knowledge of web servers (Apache/Tomcat), databases (PostgreSQL), and scripting (Bash, Python)- Familiarity with Atlassian tools (Jira/Confluence) from an infrastructure support perspective- Experience with security best practices, including firewalls, encryption, and compliance audits- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (Bamboo, Jenkins) and integration with monitoring tools- Analytical and problem-solving mindset for system-level issues- Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams- Proactive and detail-oriented, with a focus on system reliability and security- Ability to document processes and share knowledge effectively- EU citizenship- Fluent English: B2/C1.- Being open to occasional business trips abroad and visits in our office in Katowice Nice to have requirements: - Clearance Codzienne zadania: - Administer and maintain RHEL-based Linux servers supporting Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence). - Provide support for Java applications running on Tomcat, including JVM tuning and troubleshooting. - Configure and maintain Apache HTTPD/Tomcat (reverse proxy, SSL/TLS, load balancing). - Automate operational tasks (Bash/Python), including deployments, backups, and monitoring. - Diagnose and resolve system, application, and database-related performance issues. - Support integrations with LDAP/SSO, CI/CD tools, and monitoring solutions. - Ensure security, compliance, and system hardening in line with enterprise standards. - Monitor, optimise, and support performance and scalability of the environment. - Document configurations and collaborate with Atlassian administrators, security, and support teams.
