DevOps Lead

About the Role We are looking for an experienced DevOps Lead to head our infrastructure and platform engineering team. In this role, you will lead a team of up to 5 DevOps engineers, drive technical strategy, and ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of our cloud infrastructure. You will work closely with engineering, product, and security teams to enable fast, safe, and efficient software delivery. This is a hands-on leadership position — you will be expected to both guide the team and contribute technically to critical projects. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Management • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of up to 5 DevOps engineers • Set technical direction, define team goals, and ensure alignment with broader engineering strategy • Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development conversations • Participate in hiring and onboarding new team members • Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement Technical Ownership • Architect, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud infrastructure on AWS • Design and evolve Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform across multiple environments • Own and improve CI/CD pipelines to enable fast, reliable, and automated software delivery • Drive observability practices including monitoring, logging, alerting, and incident response • Ensure infrastructure security best practices, compliance, and disaster recovery readiness • Optimize cloud costs and resource utilization Cross-Functional Collaboration • Partner with development teams to enable self-service infrastructure and developer productivity • Collaborate with security and compliance teams on policies, audits, and risk mitigation • Communicate technical decisions, trade-offs, and roadmap to stakeholders at all levels • Participate in architecture reviews and contribute to overall engineering excellence Required Qualifications • 6+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering roles • 2+ years of experience leading or mentoring engineering teams • Strong hands-on experience with AWS (EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, EKS, Lambda, CloudWatch, etc.) • Expert-level proficiency with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code principles • Deep understanding of CI/CD tools and practices (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, ArgoCD, or similar) • Solid experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) • Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python, or Go) • Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, ELK, or similar) • Understanding of networking, security, and Linux system administration • Excellent communication skills in English (both written and spoken) Nice to Have • AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer Professional, or similar) • Experience with multi-account / multi-region AWS setups and AWS Organizations • Familiarity with service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd) and GitOps workflows • Experience with secrets management (HashiCorp Vault, AWS Secrets Manager) • Background in regulated industries (fintech, healthcare) or high-compliance environments • Experience driving FinOps initiatives and cloud cost optimization • Contributions to open source projects What We Offer • Opportunity to shape the technical direction of a growing platform • Collaborative, engineering-driven culture • Competitive salary and benefits package • Professional development budget (certifications, conferences, training) • Flexible working arrangements • Modern tech stack and the autonomy to choose the right tools for the job
