Senior Cloud Engineer

Project details: • 100% remote • Business trips: occasional, max twice a year to Denmark • Contract: B2B, till the end of the year + possible extensions About the Role We are looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer with strong experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure automation, and DevOps practices. In this role, you will design, build, and operate internal automation platforms supporting multi-cloud virtual machine provisioning and operating system golden image pipelines across Azure and AWS. You will work in a regulated environment with strict compliance, security, and audit requirements. This is a hands-on engineering role combining cloud infrastructure, automation, platform engineering, CI/CD, OS hardening, patching, and operational support. The team builds and operates services used by internal business customers to run critical applications, so reliability, quality, security, and compliance are essential. Key Responsibilities Multi-Cloud VM Provisioning • Design and maintain fully automated and auditable VM provisioning workflows across Azure and AWS. • Work in a multi-account and multi-environment cloud setup. • Own end-to-end CI/CD pipelines, from ServiceNow RITM intake to deployed and CMDB-registered virtual machines. • Develop and maintain Python service applications responsible for request transformation, validation, multi-cloud account verification, and CMDB integration. • Author and maintain Terraform configurations for VM provisioning, account initialisation, and management infrastructure. • Maintain cross-account OIDC federation across GitHub Actions, AWS IAM, and Azure Entra ID. • Operate event-driven provisioning automation. • Extend post-processing automation using Ansible. • Handle ServiceNow incidents and maintain platform reliability. OS Golden Image Engineering • Design, build, and harden operating system golden images for Azure and AWS. • Support multiple operating system families, including Windows, RHEL, and Ubuntu. • Author and maintain Packer templates for simultaneous multi-region image creation. Azure Patching and Compliance Automation Requirements • 4+ years of experience in cloud engineering or a similar role. • Strong proficiency in both AWS and Azure. • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation. • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash/Shell, and PowerShell. • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation workflows. • Understanding of DevOps practices and operational ownership. • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. • Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Nice to Have • Cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, or similar. • Experience with ServiceNow, CMDB integrations, GitHub Actions, Azure Arc, Packer, Bicep, Ansible, or Azure Durable Functions. • Experience with OS hardening, golden image engineering, and enterprise patching processes.
