Project
Core Bazel team
Project scope
The project focuses on delivering a blend of consultancy, migration and working on open source related to Bazel. Members of the team work on short and medium-length projects around Bazel and, at some point, become the founding members of longer-lived teams. Deliverables encompass:
– Executing smooth Bazel migrations
– Promoting Bazel ecosystems and engineering expertise through technical conferences, meetups, blog posts, and social media channels – only if you feel comfortable with it.
– Developing high-quality open-source and internal solutions tailored to Bazel
– Supporting pre-sales activities and strategic technical consultancy
– Developing and delivering training sessions and mentoring engineering teams – only if you feel comfortable with it.
Tech stack
Bazel, Starlark, Python
Project Challenges
The engagement is a part of the group that solves problems too hard for the client’s own team, even backed by LLMs. Works spans multiple ecosystems, codebase sizes, and setup quality – from helping startups to working on work-class Bazel builds (like those at Airbnb, Databricks, or Uber). It requires driving technical initiatives and applying creative problem-solving approaches.
Team
An elite engineering squad consisting of 10 Bazel Experts across various short and mid-term projects.
Required Expertise & Competencies
• Proven track record in developing solutions around build tools, maintaining robust CI/CD pipelines, or optimising SDLC processes
• Deep expertise in Bazel (preferred) or other build tools
• Interest in build systems, SDLC, and developer tooling in general
• Strong proficiency in at least one software ecosystem (JVM, Rust, Go, TypeScript, C++ or similar)
• Excellent communication skills combined with a pragmatic approach to technical problem-solving
• Proactive approach to blocker resolution and collaborative technical alignment
• High autonomy in task execution and output delivery
• Public speaking, technical blogging, and community engagement experience is a significant asset, alongside strong mentoring and knowledge-sharing capabilities
