What your days look like
You work in a small team of 2-5 people with regular, direct contact with clients or product owners. There is no project manager relaying messages. You hear the problem firsthand and you help figure out the solution.
About half of our projects are early-stage: building pilots fast, with validation in mind. If the idea proves to deliver value, we shift toward code quality and sustainability. The other half are established products that we iterate on, develop, and in some cases maintain.
Not every project is exciting. Some are challenging in ways that test your patience more than your skills. What stays consistent is the autonomy, the direct client contact, and the people you work with. Median tenure here is 7.9 years. People stay because the culture is honest and the autonomy is real.
What we are looking for
•
Someone strong in Ruby On Rails.
•
You can work independently on a client project without needing daily direction. You know when to ask for help and when to push forward.
• You communicate clearly with non-technical people. Many of our clients are founders, domain experts, or product owners who do not speak code. Your ability to translate is as valuable as your ability to build.
• You care about delivering value, not just shipping features. You understand that sometimes the right answer is to build less.
What we offer
Real autonomy. There are no managers. You decide how to build, when to push and when to ask for help, and you own the outcome. Decisions get made closest to the work, by the people doing it.
Full transparency. Finances, salaries, and the reasoning behind decisions are open to everyone. We do this because it leads to honest calls and trust, with each other and with clients. It is not a lever to angle for a bigger paycheck.
Peers, not a manager. The people you work with hire you, and that is how the company keeps running.
Room to do right by the client. Sometimes that means building less, or telling them to stop. We have worked this way since 2004, with Rails since its first release, and some client relationships have run well past a decade.
Paid time off (26 days) and private healthcare (Luxmed).
Good to have
• AWS/devops experience
• Node.js experience
• Security awareness and experience
• Proficiency with AI coding tools
• Experience with early-stage products or validation-driven development
