Opis stanowiska
About us and this role
Knapsack is the product company behind Knapsack Pro, a developer-tool that helps engineers optimize CI test runs since 2014. We are a small team located in Kraków (Poland). We mostly work remotely, but meet in person for some of the things.
This is a technical role, but we are looking for someone who is both excited and interested in working on a product. We value good code and architecture, but they are always means to an end.
Tens of thousands of users rely daily on Knapsack, so you’ll be on the frontline talking with them to ensure their needs are fulfilled.
You’ll take ownership and responsibility for what you build. Everybody on the team responds to support tickets and takes part in Pager Duty.
We expect you to take an active role in developing complex projects, from ideation and scoping to execution and maintenance. Again, if you're seeking having end-to-end influence on what is built, you might have come to the right place!
At Knapsack, it’s not unusual for one person to touch Heroku/AWS, Postgres/Redis, Ruby/Rails, JS/TS, and multiple CIs on the same day. So you should have experience in some of those and be willing to pick up the rest.
We look forward to hearing from you!
Our recent projects include:
• PREDICT
• Retry-only-Failures
• Rewrite of the API to support tens of millions of test batches per day
• Support for Vitest and Playwright
• Creation and analysis of analytics to evaluate alternative pricing models
About you:
• Four or more years of professional experience, preferably including a Product/DevTool Engineer role.
• Proficiency in crafting pragmatic and performant code where it matters and taking smart shortcuts where appropriate
• Taste in designing public APIs, dev-tools, and User eXperiences
• Data-driven skills to evaluate multiple alternatives and converge on the most promising solution
• Excellent communication in English both in writing and verbally
• The right mix of art & science to deliver projects in an experiment-oriented environment
• Ability to self-direct and work on complex projects
• Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities
• Preferably located in Kraków, Poland
Agreement details:
• B2B contract
• 15-18k PLN net / month
• 20 days off / year
• Pager Duty (compensated)
Your Application
Please submit an application with your CV/résumé and a cover letter telling us about yourself, what you can bring to Knapsack, and what made you interested in joining us.
Feel free to share whatever feels relevant. We’d really like to get to know you!
This is not a requirement, but if you’ve contributed to open-source work of any kind or developed any personal or hobby projects, please include this information along with any public links.
