About the role At TESCO Identity team we authenticate: • Services against services • TESCO customers • TESCO colleagues in stores (e.g. logging in on Till) Think of commonly used authentication providers: GitHub, Google or Facebook login. We are the same for all customer-facing TESCO services. It is a mission-critical service. We strike a balance between ease of use and security of the UX. Make it easy for common people to log in securely. Make it hard for fraudsters to steal people's accounts. Allow different forms of logging in like using Username/password or Clubcard with proper access level. For example: with the Clubcard authentication, you can earn points, but you cannot spend points or change your account password. Use smart technology to automatically react to account hacking. We implement risk-based authentication that makes it easy to log in in common situations and difficult for malicious actors in suspicious cases. We utilise multi-factor authentication if you log in from a different country or misspell your password multiple times.
