Software Developer in Observability Engineering

Emagine is seeking an Observability Engineer to join a collaborative and dynamic project environment in Portugal. This role is ideal for a proactive professional with strong AWS infrastructure and automation experience, looking to build and support enterprise-grade observability solutions across cloud and application platforms.
You will work closely with Platform Engineering, Data Engineering, and Application teams to improve operational visibility, reliability, incident detection, and platform performance across modern distributed environments.

What You'll Be Working On
• Design, implement, and maintain observability and monitoring solutions for cloud-native and distributed systems.
• Build and optimize monitoring, logging, alerting, and dashboarding solutions.
• Develop automation scripts and tooling using Python.
• Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
• Build and support CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and Git-based workflows.
• Configure monitoring for AWS services, Kubernetes, APIs, databases, and applications.
• Create actionable alerts and dashboards to improve incident response and system reliability.
• Support application onboarding, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and performance optimization.
• Ensure observability standards and best practices are followed across projects.

What We're Looking For
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS.
• Solid Python development/scripting experience.
• Strong experience with Kubernetes infrastructure, including deployment and maintenance.
• Strong experience with Terraform.
• Experience building and maintaining Jenkins CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with Elasticsearch / ELK Stack and query building.
• Experience with Linux systems and shell scripting.
• Good understanding of monitoring, logging, and alerting concepts.
• Experience working in Agile/DevOps environments.

Nice to Have
• Experience monitoring Data & Analytics Platforms.
• Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, dbt, or Matillion.
• Experience with Grafana, New Relic, Datadog, or Prometheus.
• Additional experience with Elasticsearch / ELK Stack.

• Candidates must be based in Portugal.
