Senior IT Project Manager - Security Transformation with German

We are looking for an experienced Senior IT Project Manager to lead a strategic security transformation program for a client in the financial services sector. If you have a strong background in managing large-scale IT projects, overseeing significant budgets, and communicating effectively with executive-level stakeholders, while being fluent in German (C1+), this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
You will join VM.PL, a Polish technology company with over 21 years of experience, successfully delivering projects for clients across the DACH region, the USA, and the UK.
Responsibilities
• End-to-end management of security transformation projects.
• Creating and maintaining project plans, roadmaps, schedules, and milestones.
• Coordinating project teams, vendors, and technology partners.
• Managing project budgets, risks, dependencies, and change requests.
• Leading communication with business stakeholders and executive management.
• Organizing and facilitating steering committees and regular project status meetings.
• Overseeing migration activities, testing phases, acceptance processes, and operational handovers.
• Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements applicable to the financial sector.
• Working closely with Security Architects, Security, Operations, and Compliance teams.
Requirements
• Minimum 7 years of experience in IT project management.
• At least 3 years of experience in security-related or IT infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience managing large-scale projects with budgets exceeding €1 million.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and coordinating multiple project workstreams.
• Strong understanding of both traditional and agile project management methodologies.
• Experience managing vendors, contracts, and acceptance processes.
• Excellent communication skills with senior management and business stakeholders.
• Familiarity with financial sector regulations such as BAIT, MaRisk, and DORA.
• German language proficiency at C1+ level.
• English language proficiency at C1 level.
• PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner, or IPMA Level B/C certification.
Nice to Have
• Experience in security transformation programs or legacy system migration projects.
• Basic understanding of Security Architecture, SIEM, XDR/EDR, IAM, or Cloud Security.
• Experience working in regulated environments such as banking, insurance, or the public sector.
• Knowledge of governance processes, CAB (Change Advisory Board), and regulatory audits.
• SAFe, MSP, or ITIL 4 Foundation certification.
