The Role

We're seeking a Senior QA Engineer to join the Big Human team in ensuring our web applications are of the highest quality. As the right person for the job, you will have at least 5 years of relevant industry experience and boast an impressive knowledge of manual testing methodologies, with the ability to contribute to automated testing when needed. Our automation stack is JavaScript-based (Playwright for end-to-end testing, Jest and Vitest for unit testing), but we value good testing fundamentals and a solid understanding of QA processes above specific tools. You should also be comfortable handling the implementation of comprehensive test plans and strategies in a small team, and open to working with AI tools as part of your day-to-day workflow. Most importantly, you should enjoy tackling technical challenges across a diverse range of projects and take pride in shipping high-quality, bug-free releases.

Qualifications/Requirements:

- Deep experience writing and executing manual test cases for web applications- Strong understanding of QA processes, test planning, and defect tracking- Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and the ability to write modern JavaScript for test automation- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines- Advocate for thorough testing, including visual regression and design QA- Familiarity with AI-assisted development and testing tools, and a willingness to incorporate them into your workflow

Bonus Points:

- Hands-on experience with Playwright, Jest, or Vitest- Experience with performance and load testing- Knowledge of security testing- Familiarity with Headless CMS systems like Contentful or Sanity- Familiarity with MySQL or other relational databases- Experience with mobile application testing- Experience configuring and using Docker for testing environments

- Test Planning & Execution: Develop and execute manual test cases to ensure software quality, contributing to automated coverage where appropriate.
- Bug Identification & Reporting: Identify, document, and track defects, working closely with developers to resolve them.
- Automation Support: Help build and maintain automated test scripts, enhancing test coverage over time.
- Collaboration & Communication: Work with cross-functional teams to ensure quality across the software development lifecycle.
- Continuous Improvement: Analyze and improve testing processes, staying updated with industry trends and best practices, including the evolving role of AI in QA.
