Senior User Researcher – Platform Mission

The Platform Research team is looking for a strategic, adaptable User Researcher to join us for a six-month contract. Our mission is to drive data-informed decision-making across the Platform mission, serving both internal developers and users of tools like Backstage. As a contractor, you will provide critical "burst capacity" for high-priority initiatives, specifically supporting the five studios that make up the SAFE Alliance: User Platform, User Fraud, IT, Security, and PACE (Procurement, Analytics, and Cost Engineering). The Mission You will empower teams to understand their users through rigorous evaluative and generative research. You’ll be part of a distributed team across EMEA, working closely with data scientists, designers, and product managers to reduce decision risk in complex domains. Focus & Impact You will be accountable for defining, planning, and executing end-to-end research cycles. While exact projects shift with business priorities, your focus may include: SAFE Support: Partnering with dedicated SAFE researchers to handle high-priority demand spikes and high-impact company bets. What You’ll Do • Execute Research: Lead both generative (discovery) and evaluative (testing) research to guide product direction. • Strategic Partnership: Collaborate with the Platform IDR Studio, Product Managers and stakeholders. • Manage External Agencies: Coordinate with specialist agencies to recruit niche participants and ensure research rigor in complex fields. • Advocate for Insight: Educate stakeholders on best practices, ensuring human insight is integrated before key decisions are locked.
